About this service
Tile is tough, but grout is not. Grout is porous, so every time a floor is mopped, a little dirty water soaks into the lines between the tiles. Add cooking grease in the kitchen, soap scum and body oils in the shower and winter salt and mud in the entryway, and light grout slowly turns grey, then brown. Regular mopping cannot reach it. Tile and grout cleaning can.

Our process
Inspection: we check the tile type and the condition of the grout, and point out cracked or missing grout that cleaning cannot fix.
Pre-treatment: a cleaner suited to your tile is applied to break down grease, soap scum, mineral deposits and embedded dirt.
Agitation: grout lines are scrubbed with brushes designed for joints, which is where most of the difference comes from.
Rinse and extraction: loosened dirt is rinsed and extracted, not spread around.
Final wipe: the tile is left clean and dry, with no slippery residue.
Salt and slush season
In Ottawa, Montréal and Durham, entryway tile takes the worst of winter. Salt residue leaves a white haze on tile and settles into grout, where it attracts more dirt. A spring tile and grout clean removes it and brightens the most visible floor in your home. Adding a doormat system at the front door also helps keep grout clean longer.
Pricing
Tile and grout cleaning is $1.50 per sq ft with a $179 minimum, before tax. It can be booked alone or with a deep, spring or move clean, so the tile is done during the same visit. For natural stone such as marble, slate or travertine, send us photos first, because stone needs special products.
After the clean
Grout sealing helps keep it clean longer. If your grout is cracked, crumbling or missing, a tile professional should repair it; we will point out problem areas during the inspection.

How much does tile and grout cleaning cost?
It is $1.50 per square foot with a $179 minimum, before tax. A typical entryway, kitchen floor or bathroom often falls near the minimum.
Can you make grey grout white again?
In most cases, professional cleaning brings grout much closer to its original colour by removing embedded dirt and residue. Grout that is stained deep or damaged may not return fully to its original shade.
Do you clean natural stone like marble or slate?
Natural stone needs special, pH-appropriate products. Send us photos before booking and we will confirm whether we can safely clean it.
Do you repair or replace grout?
No. Our service cleans tile and grout. If grout is cracked, crumbling or missing, we will point it out so you can have a tile professional repair it.
Can you remove winter salt haze from entryway tile?
Yes. Salt residue on tile and in grout is one of the most common problems we clean in spring. Our pre-treatment and scrubbing remove the white haze and the dirt it attracts.
